Shauna and Shane first crossed paths on a lively night out in Karma in Athlone. Their connection blossomed over time, eventually leading to an unforgettable trip away where Shane decided to pop the question. "We got engaged on a beach in Italy," the couple shares. "We decided to spend a day at a beach club. We went for a walk on the beach and Shane popped down on one knee."
After a two-year engagement, the couple set their sights on a vibrant summer celebration. They chose a striking shade of fuchsia to bring bold, joyful colour into their day. "The colour we chose was fushia," Shauna says. "It was a summer wedding and we thought this fitted in perfectly." Typical of the Irish climate, the elements kept things interesting, but did not dampen anyone's spirits: "The weather was nice for the most part, few showers here and there."
Shauna discovered her dream gown at Ivy Grace, falling for an A-line silhouette with delicate floral detailing on the bodice and soft off-the-shoulder straps. Best of all, practical bridal dreams came true: "And the most important part, it had pockets." Shane looked sharp in a navy and blue suit, finished with a crisp white tie and navy shoes. His groomsmen coordinated in navy suits with light blue waistcoats, while the bridesmaids carried through the vibrant palette in fuchsia dresses paired with gold shoes and bags.
The couple held their ceremony at St. Patrick's Church in Moate, keeping meaningful touches and loved ones at the core of the service. "We chose songs that had meaning for us," they explain. "We carefully picked people close to us for readings and prayers, as we wanted these people to play a special part in our day."
For their portraits, the newlyweds and wedding party took a scenic detour over to Dún na Sí. The park setting offered a picturesque backdrop for photos and a relaxed breather between formalities. "We thoroughly enjoyed every minute," Shauna recalls. "Getting ready with my bridesmaids and family was so magical. We had such a good time. Going to Dun na si for some photos was also very fun."
Capturing every memory from the morning preparations right through to the evening was Masters of Photography. "Masters of photography were just brilliant," the couple shares. "From the minute they came to the minute the left they captured everything in between. We are so happy with all the photos we received. Would highly recommend them." To ensure every candid moment was preserved, they also enlisted wedding content creator Captured by Chanel. "Captured by Chanel: amazing," they praise. "Had all our raw pictures and videos recorded by 9:30am the next morning. The attention to detail is amazing."
The celebration continued at Tullamore Court Hotel, a venue that had won the couple over from their very first visit. "From the moment we walked into the Tullamore court hotel, we fell in love with it," Shauna and Shane say. "It's a beautiful venue. Staff are lovely and very helpful. All decorations that we seen were just amazing too."
Music for the evening was kept delightfully personal, with talented friends taking the stage to pack the dance floor. "Our band/dj was 'Chapter 3' who are friends of ours," they note. "We love how they all play together and wanted them to be part of our day." Guests were also treated to an especially sweet favour straight from the family: "Shane's uncle is a bee keeper, and we had little pots of honey from his bees as our favour, 'Riverpark honey'."
Reflecting on their journey from Athlone to Italy and down the aisle, Shauna and Shane offer simple, reassuring guidance for couples currently working through their own checklists: "Just enjoy every minute! Do everything you want to do."
