Choosing the right boutique
Not all wedding dress boutiques are the same. Some specialise in particular designers or styles, others offer a wider range across different budgets. Before you book anywhere, do a little research. Look at the designers they stock, read reviews, and get a sense of the boutique's vibe. You want to feel comfortable and looked after from the minute you walk in.
Top tip: Book no more than two or three boutiques for your first round of appointments. Trying on too many dresses in too many places can quickly become more confusing than helpful.
Your first appointment
Most boutiques in Ireland work on an appointment-only basis, so plan ahead. Your first appointment usually lasts between one and two hours, and you'll typically be assigned a dedicated stylist who will guide you through the process. They'll ask about your wedding date, venue, and the kind of style you have in mind.
Try to keep an open mind. Many people come in with a very specific idea and leave having fallen for something completely different. That's the magic of trying things on.

What happens between appointments

Take photos if the boutique allows it, make notes on what you liked and didn't like about each dress, and give yourself a little time before going back for a second look.
Keep your wedding date in mind when browsing. Most wedding dresses take between four and six months to arrive once ordered, so factor that into your timeline.
Saying yes
When you find the right dress, you'll know. Once you place your order, your boutique will schedule a series of fittings as your dress arrives and alterations are made. Most boutiques recommend having your final fitting around six to eight weeks before the wedding.
