How To: Know You’ve Chosen The Right Suppliers

Planning & Advice
wedding suppliers

Whether you’re planning an intimate event with your closest family, or a large gathering for over 200 guests, choosing wedding suppliers that are the right fit for you and your day is so important.

Reading reviews of previous work, taking guidance from family and friends are both great ways to help you narrow your choices, but ultimately you should always trust your instincts.

If you are finding the process tricky, we hope to guide you through knowing how to choose the right suppliers for your wedding day. Here are five red flags to look out for…

They are super slow to respond

It’s unfair to say a slow response is a sign of their work as you may well have enquired during the busiest week of their year. However, if you feel you have to chase any supplier for an initial enquiry this should be taken as a red flag. If you are super organised and love good communication you will expect the same in return from your suppliers, so don’t hang about stressing over a quick reply if that’s not their style.

Their pricing seems too good to be true

It’s aways a great idea to gather several quotes during your planning process and these prices will vary across the board. Do be aware that if one supplier returns with a price a lot lower than most of the rest, this is a red flag. Take florists for example, one suppliers unity candle pricing may be worlds apart from another, which would make us think that the designs couldn’t possibly be even close in flower count, they are working off different pages altogether and won’t be comparable. Just because the price is much lower isn’t always a good thing – be sure you work through every detail to understamd their pricing, especially if it seems too good to be true.

They forget meetings

If you turn up for a meetings or consultation and your supplier has forgotten, run! We don’t think we need to say much more, do we?!

The contract is confusing and not reader friendly

All wedding suppliers who are professional and on the top of their game will have a contract that is fair to both them and the couple. Contracts should be easily understood, so if you’ve been faced with a contract that you simply don’t understand, be wary.

Your styles simply don’t match

You know the saying about the round hole and the square peg? This should be considered when you are choosing your suppliers! There is no point hiring someone who creates wedding days that is poles apart from what you are looking for. Most suppliers such as photographers, florists and stylists have signature styles which will be apparent from their social media pages and portfolios, choose the one who suits your style the most.
