Bridesmaids in separates is probably the biggest bridesmaid trend of the year, but it’s by no means the easiest to carry off. You know we love our casual mix and match maids here at weddingsonline, but add the element of mismatched separates and things can go downhill very fast! If you’re trying separates for your Big Day, one piece of advice would be to not be lazy about it. It may sound easy to hand your girls some fun and flirty skirts and ask them all to pair it with a white top but you’ll soon find that your friend’s idea of a plain white top differ enormously from your vision. Try to be hands on with this one, spend a while gathering inspiration and keep in mind your friend’s body shapes and personal style when it comes to things like tutus and crop tops (Lord knows you wouldn’t get me into one for a wedding!) and don’t put them in anything you don’t imagine them wearing to a party!
When it comes to materials, stay away from satins and play it very safe with prints (these can make outfits look old fashioned within six months!) opt for light fabrics and neutral shades, maybe with a bit of sparkle thrown in for good measure. Coast is nailing it with semi-formal co-ords, so check them out for ideas, and when it comes to gathering inspiration from real weddings, pay as much attention to what you don’t like as to what you do.
