Ideas and Tips For Your Second Wedding

Planning & Advice

You probably weren’t expecting to plan a wedding a second time, but it’s important to remember that having a second chance at love is really special. This new chapter in your life provides a fresh start and new opportunities for happiness. Bonus: while planning your second wedding, you’ll be a little older and wiser and therefore able to plan a wedding that’s focused entirely on what’s right for you!

Having a second wedding can be just as beautiful as the first! There’s no reason you should be any less celebrated this time around.

If you’re tying the knot again, here are some fabulous second wedding ideas you’ll love:

Include your children

Put the spotlight on your new blended family by inviting your children into the planning process. Start things off on the right foot by giving them responsibility and including them in the decision-making.

In addition, you could have your children participate in the ceremony! There are lots of very special and age-appropriate ways to do this. Take a look at our ideas here.

Honour loved ones

There are lots of beautiful ways to honour the memory of a late spouse, if this is something you’d like to do. Share photos, read a meaningful poem or passage of scripture or ask somebody to share a few words. Don’t be afraid to give this meaningful moment time to shine.

You do you

This is advice we give to everyone, but those planning a second wedding often feel more empowered to do what’s right for them. This may mean choosing a quirky wedding venue, hosting a wedding at an unconventional time or booking that over-the-top entertainment. Alternatively, if the traditional wedding is up your alley, then go for it! Only do what’s meaningful to you.

Consider a destination wedding

If your first wedding was somewhere local, why not consider tying the knot in a romantic getaway? If you’re concerned about comparison, this is a fab way to (literally) distance yourself. Destination weddings are often more laid-back because everybody is in holiday mode.

Wear whatever you want

This is true for all couples and all weddings, but even more so this time around! Choose that dramatic colourful dress or that striking pink suit. Your possibilities really are endless and you can have fun with your attire.
