An Idyllic Dunboyne Castle Wedding by Limelight Wedding Films

Real Weddings

“Meeting Dan at the top of the aisle was like a dream come true.”

The couple: Ailish Prior & Daniel Bridgeman
Length of engagement: 3 Years | Wedding date: 4th June 2016
Wedding location: Dunboyne Castle Hotel & Spa, Meath
Videographer: Gerard Moore – Limelight Wedding Films

We met… through a mutual friend who was a bridesmaid on the day, we were all in school together and our paths crossed many times before our friend Lisa set us up on a ‘surprise’ double date when we were just 17.

Our proposal… Dan proposed a couple of days after Valentine’s Day in February 2013, on one knee next to Villa Borghese, Rome. After all those years it was totally unexpected!

Our wedding theme/colours… We decided to go with pink, grey and ivory – we wanted subtle colours.

My hair and makeup… Was done by the amazing Lesley Whelan and Sandra Talbot, they were true professionals and their knowledge and advice was so invaluable, an absolute pleasure to work with.

My dress… I purchased my dress from BCouture in Arklow, where they have an amazing alterations team that helped me to redesign the dress that I imagined, it was a Justin Alexander dress and we redesigned the neckline, removed the straps, silhouette and lowered the back.

His suit… Dan wore a beautiful blue suit with an ivory and blue tie, and the groomsmen wore the same suit with a pink tie from Richie Whelan’s Menswear in Naas.

Our ceremony… Was performed by the wonderful Fr. Brian McKettrick in St. Patrick’s Church in Celbridge, Co.Kildare. We made a friend for life, and I hate to be biased but it’s one of the most beautiful wedding ceremonies I’ve ever been at, from the moment we met him, we felt he was as laid back as we were and made our ceremony so personal to us.

We chose our venue because… We wanted a venue with character but a function room that was practical (we found many older style venues function rooms were small and badly laid out) and with an excellent reputation for food. We found that Dunboyne Castle Hotel was the whole package and close to home that your guests weren’t obliged to stay over if they didn’t want to.

We chose our videographer because… Limelight Wedding Films style was exactly what we were looking for and Gerard was so lovely and unobtrusive that we sometimes forgot he was even there!

My favourite part of the wedding day… Gosh such a hard question to answer! But if I had to pick one I would say meeting Dan at the top of the aisle was like a dream come true.

My piece of advice for other brides… I was a very relaxed bride but even I had my moments! But everything will work out on the day, and the small tiny details aren’t as important as you think, all that matters on the day is you and your new husband, not colours and bows!
