Introducing the dessert table! Literally, the best thing to happen to weddings since... weddings (probably). We had to seriously address our sweet cravings after doing research for this article. Of course, the next wedding we attend that actually rolls out a dessert table will be our favourite wedding of the year, undoubtedly.
If you are thinking about introducing the dessert table at your own wedding, may we say you couldn't make a better choice. We've never seen one ignored, adults and kids alike go for these tables like it's going to be their last meal ever. In terms of value for money, this is a total winner. It's also good for the budget, because you could even forgo favours, wedding cake, or dessert after dinner by just rolling this out. To save money, buy candy in bulk, or even better - ask people to bring their best bakes as a contribution. They'll love it.
This brings us to the question of timing. When is a good time for introducing the dessert table? Well, it depends on your schedule for the day. First of all, if you have a long break between the ceremony and reception, it would be nice to give the guests something to munch on (perhaps balanced out slightly with some savoury options). Just before dinner may not be a good idea, it will spoil (some) appetites. After dinner instead of dessert - absolutely! Also, we've once been to a wedding where they rolled out the dessert table at midnight. It felt like Christmas in July, and everything was gone in minutes. As a result, the sugar gave everyone extra energy to dance late into the night.
