With the clocks going back this weekend, we’re getting in the mood for some cosy winter nights by the fire and browsing through the most magical winter wedding inspiration on the net! Most Irish weddings happen during the summer when there’s at least some hope of a dry day, but don’t rule out a wedding during December or January when the magic of Christmas is in the air and people are looking for any excuse to party! Winter weddings can also be quite budget friendly, and you could bag yourself quite the bargain with venues hoping to fill their Christmas calendar. Another great reason to get hitched over the holidays is if, like a lot of us these days, your group of friends are currently scattered across the globe, there’s a great chance they’ll be home in December/January anyway – so you’ll be helping their budget too!
When it comes to winter style, you can’t go wrong with a sparkly art deco Jenny Packham gown, with her stunning beadwork, showstopping silhouettes and gorgeous back details, this is the designer of the season. Add some faux fur to your rigout and you’re the quintessential winter bride! Bridesmaids can be kitted out with cosy Aran cardies as cover ups and the boys can opt for deep maroons and navys instead of black or grey. Use simple candlelight to decorate your venue and to give that cosy feel. Serve warm punch, glogg or hot chocolate for your drinks reception and have some fun with DIY winter wedding favours like gingerbread men or instant hot cocoa.
