We met… When we were 14 through friends. We remained friends for a few years until Michael invited me to his Debs and have been together even since. After travelling the world we realised it was meant to be.
Our proposal… Was while we were on holiday in Chicago. For the six months before, Michael had given everyone anti-marriage vibes so it was with great surprise that at 8am on the morning of the second last day of our trip, he got down on bended knee.
My dress… was by Amanda Wakeley from Myrtle Ivory. I instantly fell in love with the flow and elegance of the dress. It actually felt like I was walking on air all day long.
Our wedding theme/colours… I always loved the soft pink colour palette. After our first consultation with Stephanie from The French Touch we decided on soft pinks, creams and whites. We then built on this when thinking of a colour for the bridesmaids dresses and the overall colour scheme.
Our ceremony… was held in the Boys Chapel at Clongowes Wood College in Clane. We loved the romantic atmosphere created by the beautiful church filled with candles and flowers. Walking down the candle lit aisle hand in hand to Muse’s Starlight was amazing.
We chose our photographer because… We began our search on the The Irish Professional Photographers Association website; we looked at different styles of photography and really liked Michelle Prunty‘s documentary style. We then met with Michelle and instantly felt comfortable. It was very important to us that we were relaxed on our wedding day.
We chose our venue because… We visited a few venues before we made our decision. The K Club offered the complete package and we were delighted with our day.
We chose our wedding coordinator because… We were lucky to have Susie Hopkins Burke as our wedding coordinator. She was always there for any questions we had and gave us some great ideas for the wedding.
My favourite part of the wedding day… Every minute of our wedding day from getting ready with the girls in the morning to sharing a few giggles with Michael when the church erupted into thunder and lightning during mass and realising that the weather really didn’t matter, then driving to the reception after the ceremony and having a few moments alone to take it all in. It was a moment I will never forget.
Our honeymoon… We spent 10 nights in the sunny Maldives.
My piece of advice for other brides… Have all the last minute bits done a few days before so you have time to relax and enjoy the run up to the wedding.
