mother of the bride

Finding the perfect outfit for your mum can prove as adventurous as choosing your own wedding gown! What colour should she wear? Does she need to keep it traditional? Should she wear a hat? The questions can go on and on, but today we hope our advice will help her find the perfect outfit, and you keep your sanity!

Time to shop…

First up, leave plenty of time. There’s a very high chance she will change her mind a few times so plenty of time is needed to ensure she doesn’t feel rushed and end up disliking her choice.

The bride should be the guide, don’t dictate, guide her. You are setting the style and tone of the day so it’s only right you guide your mum on style, colour and vibe of her outfit.

Use the bridal party colour palette as a guide, your outfit should complement it not completely match. It’s best to wait until the bride has chosen her bridesmaids dresses before you choose an outfit.

Think of how you’d like your friends to describe you at the wedding, elegant, understated and complimentary are good words to aim for!

Mother of the Bride Secrets

Make sure you purchase the correct size outfit. No matter how much your outfit costs, it will look it’s best when it fits you correctly. You may want to leave time for alternations should you need it taken up etc, but take time to choose the right size first time.

When it comes to the finishing touches go for what you feel best in. If a full face of makeup isn’t your norm, be sure to convey this to the makeup artist. Same goes for footwear – your daughters wedding isn’t the day to decide to try heels for the first time!

Always remember a smile and feeling comfortable in your outfit will make you look your best, no matte what!
