A Vintage Affair at Darver Castle

Inspiration, Real Weddings

The ever laid back bride, Sandra McEvoy, and her groom, Adam Dowling, were married at Darver Castle in Spring 2014. They met on a work night-out and knew within six months that they were in it for the long haul together. After dating for several years, the two lovebirds headed to the Ring of Kerry for Sandra’s birthday where she was shocked to find Adam was able to keep a very important secret from her, an engagement ring!

Thanks to Livia Figueiredo Photography for sharing their special day.

We’re loving Sandra’s beaded vintage-style gown by Sharon Hoey and her bridesmaid’s gorgeous coordinated dresses.

“I saw a photo of the dress on the internet and fell in love with it. I researched online and found that only one boutique would stock it in Dublin. So I made an appointment with Sharon Hoey and while I was there I chose three other styles of dresses to try on but I always knew that that was the dress that I wanted,” said Sandra.

Planning the wedding sounds like it was a cool and calm experience for Sandra, with lots of help to save on the budget and stress levels. How lucky to have such talented and crafty loved ones! The elegance of the venue was matched perfectly with the couple’s charming vintage-style décor.

“Our family pitched in to help us make the bouquets, flowers, church decorations, invitations, mass booklets, the seating plan, the wedding favours and the cake. As a result, there was a contribution from all our family towards the wedding day and it felt like everybody was involved and all the family had a part to play,” she explained.

Including photos of your loved ones on their wedding day is a really special way to honour them and your relationship.

Had to include this adorable shot of the little one exhausted from all the festivities… Or perhaps waiting for the speeches to be over!

The grins from ear to ear by our happy couple and their friends and family depict so well what a fantastic day the wedding shaped up to be for everyone involved.

“It was a brilliant day all round that we got to spend with our families and we will never forget it. The highlight for both of us was that we got to marry our best friend.”
