Today calls for a beautiful wedding of love and romance and we’ve got it in spades for you, Missies. Maggie and Eamon tied the knot last November at the gorgeous Castle Durrow surrounded by their closest family and friends and in true bohemian style. Thanks to Joe Conroy Photography for sharing their day with us.
After meeting through a mutual friend, Maggie and Eamon knew their relationship was off to a promising start but were a little hesitant as to where things would go. “Eamon was widowed with three grown up children, but after our first date where I slipped over on the icy footpath, we have not been able to live without each other,” Maggie explained. “Four years later we had welcomed our first baby girl, Anna Mai and two years later baby Grace – we couldn’t be happier!”
Ever the romantic, Eamon planned a Valentine’s Day proposal with the help of their daughter Anna Mai and the couple began planning. “From day one we knew Castle Durrow would be our wedding venue, it was Eamon’s primary school and we loved it. We also knew that because we have a very big extended family that we would have a small, intimate wedding with only our children and witnesses,” said Maggie.
With an autumn woodland theme for their November wedding, Maggie chose signature colours of burgundy and navy which worked perfectly throughout their accessories of cut timber, pheasant feathers, moss jars, floral arrangements and candles.
Maggie wore a handmade midi dress and accessorised with burgundy shoes, whilst Eamon chose a navy suit with grey waistcoat, burgundy tie and brown shoes.
“Our day was fabulous. As the hotel was closed to the public the previous day, we were the first guests to check in that morning and that made us feel so special as the staff were able to give us their undivided attention. It was a great start to a perfect day. When all the girls were pampered in the bridal suite, having their makeup and hair done with glasses of the best champagne, the boys relaxed in the bar.
The ceremony started at 3pm in the amazing Mirror room. The kids ran riot and stole the show which actually made the ceremony very relaxed. After our photoshoot, we gathered in the Tiffany Room for dinner, this was a highlight of the day as the best man speech was very emotional and touching and the food and drinks were superb. We then retired to the residence bar for more drinks, food and laughs which brought us into the early hours and was the end of a perfect day,” added Maggie.
