After meeting in a pub ten years previously, Dion and Keith got together when they bumped into each other in a nightclub. They got engaged in Las Vegas whilst on holiday celebrating Dion’s 30th birthday.

“He had a photo of our children with ‘Mammy will you Marry Daddy’ printed on their t-shirts and he got the waiter to put the photo in with the bill after our meal. When I opened the bill he took out the ring, I was in so much shock I thought it was a joke, it was absolutely amazing he went to so much planning, he even designed the ring himself which makes it that bit more precious to me,” explained Dion.

Back home the couple decided they wants an outdoor rustic style wedding and their venue was the most important decision to make. The couple chose Glenview Hotel as it offered everything they wanted for their day including a stunning setting in the Wicklow mountains.

“I had always loved the rustic floral style decor and wanted to incorporate natural finishes as we had our heart set on having the ceremony in the garden. We picked wooden chairs for the ceremony and dinner. I wanted only minimal décor but all pretty details. The main aim for us was to have a celebration of our family and we wanted our children to be a big part of the day. Rachel the wedding planner for Glenview, was a great help in telling me what we needed to have as I hadn’t a clue about most things and she also had great advice for the day!” added Dion.

On her July wedding day Dion wore a relaxed bohemian style gown by Willowby. She carried a bouquet of roses, peonies and baby’s breath that her mum created. Her maids wore blush pink multiway gowns to add to the boho feel and Keith wore a simple blue suit with ivory tie.

Dion’s Advice

Honestly enjoy it! Take the time out to spend with each other, we made a special occasion out of lots of things like getting our marriage licence, just try to stay in the moment and remember the reasons for the wedding is about the two of you. Once its over you wont get that planning time back, its so easy to get wrapped up in the stress of the small things.
