Today’s real Irish couple, Lisa and Stephen kept their day classic and let the spectacular venue of Markree Castle, Sligo set the elegant atmosphere for their September wedding. We’re delighted to share their beautiful day that was captured by Wojciech Koza Photography.
Lisa and Stephen first met at college, 11 years ago. The couple were actually next door neighbours at the Galway Mayo Institute of Technology and hit it off after meeting at a house party. Stephen proposed on Lisa’s 28th birthday on Strandhill beach and then whisked her away for a few nights in Ashford Castle.
“We spent money on our venue as it was important to us. Markree Castle was perfect for us and our guests. We booked Markree when it was a building site as it was closed for renovations. We know from the first day we saw it that we had to get married in it. It’s the most magical place and made our day so special,” explained Lisa.
Choosing to keep their day classic and stylish to suit both the beautiful venue and their style, Lisa wore a simple straight gown with beaded illusion neckline. “I had been to a number of shops before I found the one. I had seen The Lace Boutique in Ennis come up on my Facebook feed and decided to go and see what they had. I took my best friend with me. Jordanna was amazing and helped me find my dream dress. I know once I tried it on it was the dress for me, it suited the venue and more importantly my style,” added Lisa.
We adore Lisa’s choice of wedding cake, a semi-naked four tier design topped with personalised cake topper and simple flower details. Their cake was created by Le Fournil in Sligo.
Lisa’s Advice
Enjoy it. Make sure to take some time out during the day to just sit and be together and take it all in.
