Elegant & Relaxed Winter Wedding in City Hall Dublin

Real Weddings

Today we have our very last wedding of 2019 and what a beauty it is! Jennifer and Shaun were married this past February in the iconic surroundings of City Hall, Dublin. Their day was captured by Donna Rave Photography and we’re delighted to be sharing it with you this morning.

“Shaun and I met met when we were 17 at a house party through a mutual friend and the rest is history!” Explained Jennifer. “We got engaged during a weekend in Rome. We checked into the hotel and when I walked out of the bathroom Shaun was standing there with the ring. It was perfect, just the two of us, no fuss or people around.”

Jennifer works in marketing and event planning so she took planning the wedding in her stride. “I didn’t consider it hard to arrange the wedding. Shaun left it up to me! My sister had got married a few years before in Dublin City and we both loved the ease of it. We are both from Dublin so wanted to celebrate in our city with family and friends. We chose the Morrison Hotel for our reception, we both loved it the moment we stepped inside. It was the only hotel we visited,” said Jennifer.

Style for the day was classic and elegant with navy maids and groomswear, whilst Jennifer wore a fabulous Justin Alexander Signature gown from B Couture in Arklow. “I loved the shopping experience and the gown I chose! It was the second dress I tried on and fell in love instantly. I wanted a dress that I still felt like myself in, was easy to dance in and that if I saw a bride in it I would be blown away. I visited two other places but that dress was always in the back of my mind. The girls in B Couture made the experience for me. Their knowledge and genuine kindness made the whole dress buying experience so easy,” added Jennifer.

The couple were keen to have a very personal ceremony and worked closely with their celebrant to achieve this. “Shaun’s friend wrote a poem about us and read it at the ceremony, we hadn’t heard it but had the place in stitches and tears . A civil ceremony makes it so personal and allows you to add your own special touches. We worked closely with our celebrant Emer who helped us create a ceremony special to us,” explained Jennifer.

“I knew I wanted my friend to do my makeup and my hairdresser to do my hair but after that I chose our suppliers based on recommendations from friends and family. All of our suppliers were great especially our photographer who knew exactly what we wanted. We didn’t notice her most of the day and she managed to capture such special moments,” added Jennifer.

Jennifer & Shaun’s Advice

“We would tell everyone to enjoy it, relax and really don’t sweat the small stuff, I know that’s easy to say but don’t be overwhelmed. Nobody pays attention to the smaller details. Make sure to use suppliers you get a good feeling from and who are open to taking on your suggestions. All of our suppliers were brilliant to work with, reliable and quick at coming back to us which is so important when you need answers.”
