We love seeing a wedding and knowing straight away that the bride and groom really, we mean really, enjoyed their day! Today’s couple, Orlaith and Brendan are one of those joyous couples; it is so easy to see from Derry based photographer, Paula Gillespie, this couple were all about having fun, making memories and enjoying their day! No wedding stress nerves here!
Laid back pair, Orlaith and Brendan first met in a nightclub in Letterkenny, a few drinks might have been taken but nine years on the fun pair tied the knot, but not before a cute engagement in June 2012.
“Brendan proposed in our house on a regular Friday evening. We were heading to Downings for the weekend, it definitely was a good one after that!” Said Orlaith.
“A couple of weeks after our engagement we decided to check out venues and start the ball rolling. We went round some venues hoping to find a place which we both liked! We wanted to chose somewhere that wasn’t too far from the chapel – the less travelling the better. I joined some wedding forums and browsed the internet daily looking at wedding dresses and bridesmaid dresses. The key to keeping the planning easy was to book and order everything well in advance which worked our well in the end.” Explained Orlaith.
On the morning of her wedding Orlaith wore a Blue by Enzoani gown purchased from The Bridal Showroom in Derry. It featured a beautiful delicate lace overlay and worked stunningly with her delicate floral crown. Her bridesmaids wore pretty Watters & Watters gowns with floaty ruffled cap sleeves, from McElhinneys Bridal Rooms, Ballybofey, and carried rustic blooms of vibrant hues.
“It is so true that the day flies in! Everything ran the way it was supposed to, except the broken down camper van- which was fixed when we came out of the ceremony! We loved every minute, we’re both very laid back so never really got too stressed!” said Orlaith.
Orlaith had added plenty of little personal touches to their reception with disposable cameras for the guests -a big hit!- and jam jars filled with pretty posies.
“Both Brendan and I share the same highlight of the day – seeing each other in the chapel. We were like a couple of school kids, giggling and whispering through the ceremony,” added Orlaith.
