When music teacher, Tara married her fiancé, Patrick last month they knew they wanted to plan a day that was fun and entertaining for their guests who had travelled to Tulfarris Hotel from across the world. Their beautiful day was filled with music and was captured perfectly by Suzanne from Circus Photography.
“Pat and I met originally when we both performed musical instruments in the Celbridge Concert Band. Although we had been rehearsing and performing together since we were 12, we didn’t start dating until our final rehearsals before University,” explained Tara. “Somewhere between the leaving cert and the proposal we knew it was for life!”
The couple each moved to London and on their ninth anniversary in May 2017 Pat proposed.
“We went for dinner at a lovely french restaurant in Battersea and afterwards we strolled up the Thames to spend time at our favourite spot, the beautiful victorian Albert Bridge. Watching a gorgeous summer sunset and admiring the fairy-lights on the bridge, Pat got down one knee and proposed to me with a beautiful comb for my hair which I wore with my veil on our wedding day,” she said.
Keen to get married the following summer, Tara and Pat chose Tulfarris Hotel & Golf Resort. “We prioritised having a venue that could facilitate a secular ceremony, and put the experience and joy of our guests at the heart of our planning. Shortly after finding our venue, we contacted Lucie O’Sullivan from the humanist society of Ireland. She wrote the most sincere and meaningful ceremony for us and it set the perfect tone for the day,” said Tara.
“We really valued our guests being minded after going to such trouble and expense to attend our wedding. Many of our guests travelled overseas as we had friends and family invited from all over the world. With that in mind, the quality of the food was essential, which went hand-in-hand with the beautiful venue. We also wanted guests to be entertained so we put our money towards music; a harpist to play during our drinks reception and an amazing band to keep the dance floor full! We also hired the Everybooth from Rhythm & Booth Co in Co. Cork for guests to enjoy the hilarious photos that they helped create,” she added.
“The day was better than either of us could have ever imagined. It exceeded every expectation. Our guests loved our ceremony and the sun didn’t stop shining! Our venue and vendors were excellent and gave us a day we could never forget. It was so humbling and wonderful to have so many family members and friends throw themselves into celebrating our marriage,” added Tara.
Tara’s Highlight
There are too many to single out, but watching all my friends and family dancing around us; our littlest cousins, friends from around the globe, my autistic brother and Pat’s amazing grandmother, all having fun together was truly unforgettable. I couldn’t have asked for more.
Pat’s Highlight
Watching Tara walk down the aisle was the moment my day became perfect. You spend so much time and energy planning your wedding, you always worry about things out of your control, but when I saw Tara walking towards me I knew everything was going to be wonderful and relief washed over me.
