Whether you’re having an indoor or outdoor wedding, having a rustic or country chic theme can look beautiful but styling it may seem a bit daunting. If you don’t want to over do it, your bouquets and floral arrangements could really give a country theme with a rustic edge without a huge amount of effort. We’ve selected some of our favourite ideas, which will hopefully inspire you and give you the confidence to add a bit of country chic to your day.
A rustic bouquet will have a looser look than a standard hand tied bouquet, it may even not have a symmetrical shape, especially if you go for a lush shower style spray instead. As the main bouquet above from Cork based Bloomsday Flowers shows, a simple hessian and lace tie can give it an extra sweet touch.
Accessorising your entrances, tables and reception areas is a vital way of adding extra charm to a rustic theme. Are wellie boots part of your everyday life? Add them to your decorating, they are a great talking point for your guests, even added mud on the soles will give a genuine look!
We’ve said it many times before but mason jars, jam jars, even old milk bottles dressed and painted and filled with hedgerow blooms or simple baby’s breath make great and affordable table centres and will add detail to windowsills.
You will be surprised at what your florist could have hiding in their vault of pretty accessories. From creamery cans to old time bicycles and wooden crates they will have a collection of stock collected from over the years, so make sure you ask them first before heading out to buy them yourself.
A bicycle placed at the entrance to your ceremony and reception is a real talking point for your guests.

We’ve been noticing whiskey barrels slowly make an appearance at Irish weddings, with some florists now offering them to hire. They look great as a centrepiece for your ceremony floral displays and also a great alternative cake stand!
