Transport Ideas for your Wedding

Inspiration

Make a unique and unforgettable entrance at your wedding with statement transport!

For guests, one of the most anticipated moments of a wedding is the bride’s arrival at the church or venue; no matter how persuasive your ushers are there will always be people who can’t resist waiting outside to watch you arrive in all your finery!  And while the bride’s arrival in a classic car or traditional horse and carriage is spectacular enough, in this day and age it’s just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to making an entrance that will have people talking about your big day for days, weeks even years to come!

Your choice of unusual wedding transport will be influenced primarily by your budget and potentially by your venue as well but if you can get both of these things sorted then you can have a whale of a time working out how you can get to the church in ultimate style.  Here are our favourite ideas for unique wedding transport:

Flash Harry

Arriving by road is perhaps a more traditional way to travel on your big day, but that doesn’t mean you have to opt for the typical classic car or limousine options.  Many transport companies offer the hire of vehicles that will make a huge statement on your day and can even offer the chance to fulfil a lifelong dream for your or your new husband imagine his face if you arranged for him to drive himself to the wedding in a supercharged Lamborghini!  From stretched Hummers to cute convertible Beetles, automotive movie stars like the General Lee or Kit from Knightrider to sleek and sexy Jaguars and Ferraris, why not make your choice of car extraordinary?

Chopper Power

The transport choice of A-listers around the world, a helicopter arrival makes a big (and noisy) statement and in recent years has become more accessible to brides and grooms across Ireland, both in terms of availability and affordability.  It’s also fantastic if you’re keen to have your wedding photos taken somewhere that’s remote from your reception venue as it cuts journey times dramatically.  You will, however, need to make sure that your wedding venue has a helipad or other suitable landing area, so if you’ve got your heart set on arriving from the skies it’s wise to do your homework early on in the booking stages.

Splash Down!

Not many hotels and reception venues in Ireland have their own runway but lots are situated next to this country’s abundance of waterways which means that while private jet might not be a wedding transport option, sea plane most certainly is!  Just imagine your guests’ faces when you touch down with a splash right outside your waterside venue!

Biker Chic

There’s nothing like the roar of a powerful motorbike engine to awaken your inner rock chick and whether it’s a sleek road bike or a laid back Harley Davidson, if either you or your hubby are bike fans, then this is an amazing way to travel on your wedding day.  Some companies offer self-drive options great for adventurous grooms while others will provide a driver so that you can either ride pillion or in a sidecar.  If you’re worried about messing up your dress or hair, you could always travel most of the way by car and then make the switch to bike close to your venue so you can pull up in style without looking too windswept!

Bond Girl

If you’ve booked a lake or riverside venue but arriving by air doesn’t float your boat’, why not consider making your very own Bond-style entrance in a fabulous speedboat?  Be warned; if you’re not keen on the idea of arriving slightly damp and with your bridal hair looking a little tousled, this might not be for you but if you fancy an exhilarating and unforgettable ride in to the jetty to meet your waiting guests, then arriving by boat is a wonderful and relatively inexpensive way to do it!

Some of these options may seem beyond today’s tight wedding budgets, but whatever your choice, choose a form of transport that reflects your personality and passion!
