Every couple wants their wedding day to be remembered for all the right reasons – having fun being up there with the fabulous food, venue and style. Today we’ve been picking the brains of Dave Young The Wedding Comedian about what you can expect from his phenomenal show, making sure you inject lots of laughter and make forever memories.

Q. How did you get into comedy?
A. I used to be the lead singer with a band, and whenever there was a problem with one of the instruments I would cover it with comedy. In no time the crowds where coming for the comedy and not the band, so a comedian was born.
Q. Best gig you’ve ever performed at?
A. I love all my gigs, whether it’s a Dave Young show, A Corporate gig or a wedding performance, I’m a natural performer so naturally I love performing. The biggest gig I ever did was at The Meteor awards in the O3, ten thousand people laughing their heads off, that was cool, but the funny thing about laughter is, even if there’s only 50 people in the audience, the feeling you get giving laughter is the same, great!!!
Q. Do you travel throughout Ireland?
A. I cover the whole island North, East, West and South! I perform at a lot of weddings in Spain too.
Q. How long is your set?
A. My one hour award winning show is filled with music, impressions, audience participation and killer jokes that have both sides of the family laughing their heads off!
My show usually starts straight after the dessert so there’s no after dinner lull, or you can laugh them into dinner and get the party started early.
Q. Are your jokes kid friendly?
A. Of course, even the Priest has a great time!
Q. What is the process of booking? Do you meet couples and get to know them? Can you include personalised jokes/stories?
A. You can make a booking by email, but I like having a quick chat by phone, it’s hard to get across what it is I do by mail so a quick chat is great. I arrive early on the day of the wedding and get to know a little background info on the happy couple, and I sprinkle the show with little funny story’s the Bride and Groom tell me. They usually have a lot on the best man; I think it’s their way of getting him back. lol
Q. Do you have a favourite’s story, yarn or joke to tell?
A. Here’s a little joke,
An Englishman and an Irishman go to a bakery. The Englishman steals three buns and puts them into his pockets and leaves. He says to the Irishman: “That took great skill and guile to steal those buns. The owner didn’t even see me.”
“That’s just simple thievery,” the Irishman replied. “I’ll show you how to do it the honest way and get the same results.”
The Irishman then proceeded to call out the owner of the bakery and says: “Sir, I want to show you a magic trick.” The owner was intrigued so he came over to see the magic trick.
The Irishman asked him for a bun and then he proceeded to eat it. He asked two more times and after eating them again the owner says: “Okay my friend, where’s the magic trick?”
The Irishman then said: “Look in the Englishman’s pockets.”
Q. Can you make my grumpy uncle crack a smile?!
A. I can make anybody laugh! In fact when you see me perform you may DIE laughing…but what away to go!!! lol
