A Pastel Coloured Wedding Inspired by Spring

Real Weddings

“I just love colours! The more the better, especially yellow! We decided on pastels as it was an early spring wedding.”

Names: Sarah and Robert Mahon

Wedding Date: 3rd February 2018

Wedding location: Palmerstown House Estate | Photographer: Ruth Foran Photography

Our wedding theme/colours…  I just love colours! The more the better, especially yellow! We decided on pastels as it was an early spring wedding. The bridesmaids and the flowers were to be pink, mint, lilac, peach and blue and all other elements were yellow.

My dress… My dress was a beautifully beaded gown by Justin Alexander. I bought in The Bridal Studio in Southgate Shopping Centre, Drogheda. The ladies working there, especially Laura, were incredibly helpful and kind and provided me and my bridal party with a wonderful shopping experience. Oksana Mustak in Drogheda did the all the alterations to make it fit perfectly. My beautiful flat shoes were Ted Baker.

My hair and makeup… Michelle T was the make-up artist for our wedding. She was incredibly professional, calm and absolutely lovely to deal with! Shirley and Rachael from “Your Gorgeous Hair” did everyone’s hair! I decided to go with soft, classic chic style at the nape of my neck because of the detail at the back of my dress.

His suit… Herbie Frogg three-piece suit in grey with check pattern from Richie Whelan’s Menswear, Naas, Co. Kildare.

What our bridal party wore… The bridesmaids wore Iridessa high-low skirts from Coast in blush, mint and silver paired with tops from Folkster. The groomsmen wore three-piece charcoal grey suits from “Richie Whelan’s Menswear”.

Our ceremony… We had a Catholic wedding celebration in Saints Peter and Paul’s Church Balbriggan.

Why we chose our photographer, Ruth Foran We originally saw Foran and Sauvage at our venue’s open day. We loved the photos they took in the venue and how they seemed to know the venue so well. When we met Ruth and Martin we were very impressed with not only their work but their organisational skills.

We chose our wedding coordinator because… We were lucky enough to have Sinéad McGoldrick as our wedding co-ordinator in Palmerstown House. She was very attentive and organised and made planning the wedding so much easier! We were delighted to have her and we knew our wedding was in very capable hands!

We chose our venue because… The moment we walked into Palmerstown House we fell in love with it! From the beautiful grounds, to the gorgeous manor house and the wonderful staff that we met we knew this would be our venue.

Our menu…

Starter – Confit of Duck or Prawn Cocktail

Soup – Chorizo & Butternut Squash

Main – Sirloin of Irish Beef with Yorkshire Pudding & Red Wine Jus   or   Grilled Salmon Fillet with Squash Purée and Ratatouille

Vegetarian option – Quinoa, Butternut Squash & Emmental Cheese Roulade

Dessert – Vanilla Panna Cotta in Chocolate Pastry Shell

Wine – Tempranillo and Pinot Grigio

Our honeymoon… 10 nights in Japan – We began with a few nights in Tokyo followed by a trip north to Sapporo to visit their annual snow festival. We then flew to Osaka taking in Universal Studios and Kyoto. We returned to Tokyo before flying back to Dublin. Best parts were the friendly people and the food especially the lamb barbecue, ramen and tempura.

My favourite part of the wedding day… We absolutely loved our day from start to finish!

My piece of advice for other brides… Be on time for the wedding, you appreciate the extra 20 minutes during the drinks reception. And wear flats if you can! It makes taking the photographs and moving around so much easier!
