What is a symbolic ceremony?

In its simplest form, a symbolic ceremony is a non-legal wedding ceremony, where the couple focuses on celebrating their love and making promises to one another.

For those who don’t know, in Ireland, there are several legal requirements in order to get married. Not everybody will be legally able to marry you, and for those who can, there are often strict rules about when and where a ceremony can take place.

Will it be any less special?

Put your mind at rest! Whether you get legally married on your wedding day or you do the legal bit beforehand and have a symbolic ceremony on your Big Day, it will be special. It all comes down to who officiates your wedding and how much focus you give to the special elements that make it yours!

The contents of your wedding ceremony are what make it a special and memorable occasion for you and your guests. A fabulous wedding celebrant is able to include unity ceremonies, poetry, special readings and anything else you wish so that all the attention is on your love. Your guests will be none the wiser and nobody will be thinking about when you did the legal part.

Include your guests as much as possible in things like readings and candle lighting, children in the handtying ceremony, and have the option of a religious prayer or blessing if you wish. – Celebrancy By Rebecca
