Pretty in Pink: An Effortlessly Beautiful Fairytale Wedding

Real Weddings

“My favourite part of the wedding day was sharing our fairytale with all our family and friends.”

Bride and Groom: Danielle & Sean Martin

Length of engagement:  2 years & 9 months | Wedding Date: 5th of May 2018

Wedding location: Cliff at Lyons

Photographer: ATL Photography

We met… In September 2010 in The Wright Venue – Swords Co. Dublin both out celebrating Our Birthdays (they are 5 days apart).

Our proposal… Sean took me to the most beautiful hotel in Ardmore Co. Waterford The Cliff House Hotel for 2 nights. We had a meal in the Michelin star restaurant “the house restaurant”. Afterwards, we went back to our room and sat on our balcony overlooking the picturesque views off Ardmore bay. Sean put on one of “our songs”, Amazing by Bruno Mars, which he used to always sing to me when we first started dating. He poured us champagne and it’s funny because as we were sitting there admiring the views I was more interested in getting the perfect selfie of the two of us. He asked me to stop and take a drink of my champagne, and when I went to take a sip I could just see something sparkly in the bottom off the glass and I broke down. I knew exactly then what was going on. It was so emotional, I literally was sobbing tears of happiness, screaming YES as Sean got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Looking back he must have been in a total panic and all I was interested in was getting the perfect selfie. We laugh about it all the time. It was one of the best days of our lives.

Our wedding theme/colours… ivory, nude pinks, champagne, cherry blossoms, florals embellishment.

My dress…  Temperley London Bridal Collection from the little white dress and veil custom-make pure silk by an Irish designer in Castleknock village Dublin 15. Sarah looked after me she was lovely.

My hair and makeup… My hair was done by Stacey Minogue. Makeup was done by Kate Hennerby.

What our bridal party wore… My mam wore Caroline Kilkenny from Design centre in The Powerscourt town centre. Shoes and bag Nine West. Headpiece from Marks and Spencer’s. Sean’s mam outfit was from Nicola Ross in Naas town Centre co. Kildare. Bridesmaids wore dresses from Asos.com and shoes and accessories from House of Fraser Dundrum Shopping centre. Flower girls wore custom-made tutus from Tanya and Daisy. Tops and flower crowns sourced from Etsy. Shoes from Next. Sean and his groomsmen and both our dads wore Tuxedos and shoes from the formal suite at Michael Barrie’s menswear, Duke street Dublin 2. We dealt with Dan, an absolute pleasure to deal with and fantastic value.

Our ceremony… took place onsite in the orangery. It was a beautiful humanist ceremony conducted by Lucy Sullivan.

We chose our photographer because… we wanted someone familiar with our venue, Cliff at Lyons. Someone who had a natural approach to taking photographs. We arranged a meeting with Andy from ATL photography and he made us feel very comfortable and at ease which is exactly what we needed for our big day. Highly recommend him.

We chose our videographer because… We met our videographer Richard Speedy at our venue at a wedding showcase. He is an absolute tonic, great personality and like that him being so familiar with the venue was a plus for us but the major selling point was when he said he had a drone and told Sean he could have a shot off it. We chose our wedding stylist because… We chose Mary Smith-Supple from Finesse Weddings as we wanted to enhance the beauty of the Cliff at Lyons without it being OTT. Mary was excellent to deal with and we talked through a style I wanted. She was so helpful and her attention to detail is spot on. She styled our ceremony, our dinner reception, and supplied all bouquets of fresh flowers and the flower girl baskets.

We chose our venue because… It is simply stunning. The grounds are breathtaking, there are so many beautiful features throughout the venue that you couldn’t just choose one. For us, food was very important and they didn’t disappoint. All our guests were almost shocked at how fabulous it was. Also, location was important, we wanted somewhere local for our guests and with it being literally 15 minutes from the m50 it was perfect. Also, it just so happened the Cliff House where we got engaged took it over so it being a sister venue we felt like it was meant to be.

Our menu… We had assorted canapés with a Prosecco and beer reception after our ceremony. We hired a vintage ice-cream bike serving a mixture of flavours. For dinner, we had a starter of Chicken & Wild Mushroom pillow with Tarragon & Leek Veloute.  For the main course, we had an option for Fillet of Beef with Fondant Potato, Spinach Puree Roast Vegetables & Red Wine Jus. We had a Fish option, Fillet of Sea Bass with Dublin Bay Prawns, Colcannon & Lemon Sauce. Dessert was Chocolate Fondant, Orange Arbequina Olive Oil & Vanilla ice-cream. Red & white wine served.

Our honeymoon… We went on a familymoon 3 days after our wedding to Disneyland. For us, it was very important to have quality time with our little girl Sienna after all the madness. We had a magical time. We are jetting off on the 1st of August to the Maldives staying at the Lux* South Ari Atoll for 10 nights for our honeymoon.

My favourite part of the wedding day… was sharing our fairytale with all our family and friends, especially our daughter Sienna who was our flower girl. My favourite part was marrying my soulmate ❤

My piece of advice for other couples… would be to enjoy it all, don’t stress and trust in your suppliers and venue as it all comes together on the day. Take a moment in private as newlyweds on the day as it goes so quick.
