Names: Elaine and Daniel O’Connor
Length of engagement: 1 year 10 months | Wedding date: 26 May 2018
Venue: Tinakilly Country House Hotel
Photographer: Stargaze Photography – Daragh McCann
We met… in Athlone on a night out.
Our proposal… on a Gondola in Venice – so romantic!
Our wedding theme/colours… purple and cream.
My dress… Ivory, mermaid style – Italian brand from Truly Bridal Boutique, Naas. Great selection of dresses with different styles. Really lovely and helpful staff too!
My hair and makeup… Ali Murphy – freelance hair and makeup.
His suit… Mardec Clothing, Naas. In the suit rental business for years so know their stuff! Also very good value compared to many places in Dublin.
Our ceremony… Spiritual Ceremony by Spiritualceremonies. Solemniser – Anthony Colton.
What our bridal party wore… Bridesmaids: purple dresses from Dresscode, Finglas. Beautiful and different dresses to your average bridesmaid dress. A little over our budget but was worth it, as the dresses are made to fit which means there is no more altering needed once your order arrives in! The staff are lovely too.
Men’s blue suits from Mardec Clothing, Naas.
We chose our photographer, Stargaze Photography, because… his enthusiastic attitude, quality and style of his work, great personality, made us feel relaxed about everything.
We chose our wedding coordinator because… they were part of the wedding team at the venue. They were very professional, made us feel relaxed about everything.
We chose our venue, Tinakilly Country House, because… we wanted a vintage style Country House and it ticked all the boxes with its amazing decor and food. Also, the location is not too far from Dublin and easy to find.
Our menu… Starter: chicken salad, raspberry sorbet. Mains: Choice of Beef or Salmon, with veg and garlic potatoes. Dessert: Creme brulee. Supper of sliders, mini fish and chips, and sandwiches.
Our honeymoon… Las Vegas and Cancun, Mexico.
My favourite part of the wedding day… was the ceremony which we got to have outdoors luckily due to great weather. The music, atmosphere and whole ceremony setup was fantastic.
My advice for other couples… make sure you shop around for all your needs! Many places will try rip you off – it means having to Google about 10 different florists to get the best value, then do it! We found that this was how we found the best bargains by researching a lot! Also be very clear and know exactly what you want when it comes to everything. Every little thing is important!
