“The love you feel is just so special.”
The couple: Sinead Healy & Patrick Geoghegan
Length of engagement: 13 months | Wedding date: 18th October 2014
Wedding location: Clayton Hotel, Co. Galway
Photographer: Maya Noonan – Noonan Photography
We met… Online!!!!!
Our proposal… Patrick decorated a room in our house (which we had just started doing up – it just about had floors!!) with fairy lights and candles with dinner set up on a camping table!!! It was our anniversary so I thought it was all for that. (He is very romantic!!!) After dinner I was cleaning up and he was insisting that we have dessert instead of working!! I turned around to find him down on one knee!!
My hair and make-up… my hair was by Niamh O’Grady at The Hair Fairy and my make-up was by Carol Morrow.
My dress… was by Maggie Sottero.
What our bridal party wore… the ladies wore full length black ball gowns with gold belts, and the men wore black three-piece suits with gold ties.
Our ceremony… was at St Patrick’s Church in Derrybrien.
His suit… was from Feeney’s Menswear.
We chose our photographer because… Maya (Maya Noonan Photography) has an amazing website, I knew some people who had her and loved her work. Very easy decision. Lovely person and have had countless compliments from both bridal party and wedding guests on her work and personality!! I have my album back already she is super-efficient!!! Highly highly recommended.
We chose our venue because… of the food, the staff, the function room, the bridal suite, the bedrooms, the location and the amazing rates. Again we have had so many of our guests come back to us complimenting all the above. I would recommend the Clayton Hotel to anyone.
We chose our wedding coordinator because… Karina Duffy at the Clayton Hotel is without question the best wedding coordinator I have met. From day 1 nothing was any trouble and to be honest I felt like I was dealing with a friend and not a coordinator after our first meeting. She has an ability to be so enthusiastic about every detail of the day. I could not recommend her and the Clayton Hotel highly enough.
Our wedding theme/colours… Black and Gold.
Our menu… We had a choice of Goats Cheese Tartlet or Chicken Salad, Potato & Leek Soup, Berry Sorbet, Beef, Cod or Vegetarian Thai Red Curry for main course and a selection of mini desserts. The Clayton Hotel has a fantastic gluten free ethos, the chef also deserves a mention – he came out and met us at our food tasting and was so helpful in choosing our menu.
Our honeymoon… we went to Barbados and New York!
My favourite part of the wedding day… Every single second of it. I have never experienced anything like it – so overwhelming and the love you feel is just so special.
My piece of advice for other brides… Stress is a wasted emotion – enjoy the preparation and every minute of the day itself. Don’t let any family “issues” get in the way of your special day. It is very easy to get carried away with all the spending and while I am generally very sensible with money this is ONE day you will never get the chance for a do-over so take the opportunity to have everything you have always dreamed of……..I did…… Zero regrets!
