Relaxed, Music Filled Day at Mount Druid

Real Weddings

Meed Sinead and Johnny. Not everything went to plan on their day (look out for the Green Folder car rescue!) but you’d never know from the smiling faces and continuous laughter on their faces! We’re delighted to share their relaxed and music filled wedding day at Mount Druid.

Couple: Sinead and Johnny

Engagement length: 2 years

Wedding date: 2025-09-13

Wedding venue: Mount Druid

Photographer: Lucy Nuzum

Sinead and Johnny met in Quinns Pub, Drumcondra 14 years ago at the age of 19.

‘The night we met it was snowing and snowball fights were had! We got engaged in Paris on a bridge in Canal St Martin. Johnny asked the question; ”Do ya wanna get married?” We had actually gone over to see the Arctic Monkeys as Johnny and I are big fans. The next day we happened to meet Alex Turner in the street. I still think Johnny’s highlight was meeting Alex Turner Number 1 and getting engaged number 2. An amazing weekend.’

They decided to get married on the 13th September and had both resigned themselves to the fact it would probably be a rainy day with 100% chance of rain forecasted all day, thankfully their venue, Mount Druid caters for all seasons and weather conditions!

‘It did rain all morning and then just as the ceremony was to begin it stopped raining and the sun came out! We couldn’t believe our luck as we had some of our speeches in the boat house at the drinks reception which people came inside for and a brief shower happened again! Every time it rained we happened to be inside we were absolutely blessed.’

‘Everything went to plan except for one thing – somehow the green folder for getting married got locked inside the car, with the keys in the car. Thankfully, Johnny got a fire extinguisher and broke the car window to get it out!’

Both Sinead and Johnny didn’t stop smiling and laughing all day.

‘We aren’t people who take ourselves too seriously so we wanted a relaxed day!’

Sinead fell in love with a very expensive dress and didn’t feel she could justify the cost, she then discovered dressmaker, Sarah Foy.

‘Nothing was a trouble for Sarah and she made me feel so at ease and listened to my vision to create what I wanted except even better! She is absolutely amazing and I can’t recommend her enough!

Johnny had his suit tailor made at Hunter Treacy and my bridesmaids wore pistachio dresses from ASOS.’

Feedback on the venue:

From the minute we stepped foot in Mount Druid we were like, this is a bit of us. We had been recommended Mount Druid by a few people who said it would suit us. We loved how they have designed the areas, everything is so tastefully decorated but is still really homely, such funky little touches with such attention to detail.

We also loved how there is so many different areas that you feel like the whole day is a bit of an adventure in itself. The staff are so relaxed and helpful. We loved having the site the night before to relax and get everything set up.  All the way through Mount Druid were so easy to deal with.

When we were viewing venues initially we weren’t really thinking about the weather. But Mount Druid catered for all weather types which made me not be such a Bridezilla in the lead up because of the forecast! However the rain cleared early and we had sunshine all day. We knew we would have an amazing time no matter what in Mount Druid.

‘We didn’t have a videographer, we did ask our best man (who is a photographer – Carl Foran) to video our speeches cause that was the only thing we really wanted videoed so that we could look over them. Carl absolutely amazed us and gave us the most lovely wedding present by collecting a variety of short clips to formulate a short video for instagram. He did such an amazing job we loved it so much! And it was one of the best wedding presents we got.’

Music played a big part of the day for both Sinead and Johnny;

‘Fleetwood mac was our entrance song. We had Spring Break so 80s music featured quite a bit but with some hits which we loved! We had some of our favourite songs played on the harp by Luke Webb who learned the songs for us a few weeks before, he was class. Then Natalia Sax played our drinks reception with sax music and welcomed us into the dining hall.  This set the relaxed party vibe we wanted. She was absolutely amazing. She actually learned our entrance song on the day as we were very last minute deciding we would like her for our entrance. Springbreak were also incredible and kept everyone on the dancefloor which we loved as we rarely left it either!’

Favourite memory:

First thoughts: Johnny- breaking the car window!

Besides actually getting married..

But also for both of us it was walking over approaching our drinks reception with the sax playing and seeing all of our loved ones in one place. We had a little private moment on the way over too which Lucy advised us to have. It was so lovely. Natalia our sax player learned to play our wedding entrance song and gave us the best welcome into Mount Druids dinner room ! We also loved this moment she had the place buzzing!

Advice for other couples:

We were given lovely advice to celebrate every time you make another decision on the wedding. Choosing the photographer/ suits etc. Drinks or a takeaway was deserved.

Also take everyone else’s advice with a pinch of salt and don’t leave the green book in the car!
