We met… We have known one another since we were children as we live close to one another. We know the same people and grew up singing together at different events and one day something clicked and we became inseparable.
Our proposal… I was completely shocked, had no idea. I came home from a nice pamper day and walked in through our front gates and was greeted with a trail of flowers from the gate all the way to the front door. I opened the front door and our narrow hallway was lit with candles and fairy lights and ‘will you marry me’ was spelled out in petals. After piecing the words together and having a slight heart attack I opened our kitchen door and there he was, candles everywhere, my favourite meal on the table, champagne on ice and him on one knee with a sparkler. It was like something from the movies.
Our ceremony… was in St. Finian’s Church, Kilquiggan in Co. Wicklow. It was a traditional Catholic church ceremony officiated by our friend Fr. Joseph Power.
We chose our photographer because… I found our photographer Aoileann from Wedding Photography Laois online, I viewed her pictures and really liked them. I contacted Aoileann and she was so helpful and down to earth that we knew she was who we wanted for our big day.
My wedding look… my dress was from Eden Manor Bridal in Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford and the designer was Tamem Michael. I liked the shape of one dress and the pearl detail on another and the designer kindly agreed to merge the two dresses, so my dress was a special design and I was thrilled with it. My hair and all the girls’ hairs were done by Halfords Hair Studio in Gorey, Co. Wexford and our makeup was done by Kate McCormack Makeup.
His suit… the mens’ suits were all purchased from Floods Menswear in Arklow, Co. Wicklow.
My favourite part of the wedding day… Robbie says his favourite part of the wedding day was seeing me and getting a glimpse of the dress I had talked so much about beforehand. I couldn’t pick a favourite moment, marrying Robbie was the highlight of my life and the day was amazing in full. We had a ball.
We chose our venue because… The Riverside Park Hotel in Enniscorthy Co. Wexford was chosen by us because of the complete homely feeling and the most helpful wedding coordinator Liz. She was a dream.
Our wedding theme/colours… We are both into music so our wedding theme (even though it was not planned) was music notes and music paper. Our table plan, our table numbers, our favours, bunting etc. were all made by me from dyed music paper. It was more a case of me getting carried away than a so called ‘theme’.
My piece of advice for other brides… I am a singer at weddings and when I meet with brides now to choose their songs, there is only one thing I say to them – take everything in because it goes so fast. So many people gave the same advice to me and I listened but I didn’t really take it in. It wasn’t until the day came that I realised how right they were.
