Every now and then a designer showcases a wedding dresses collection that reminds us just what makes bridal such a unique and exceptional discipline within the fashion industry. Lusan Mandongus’ 2015 offering is such a collection – this is bridal of the highest caliber.
As a designer, Lusan Mandongus refuses to rely on the overuse of embellishment to impress, instead her penchant for the most exquisite lace fabrics and her meticulous and precise cuts say it all. These are wedding dresses for strong, confident women, women who embrace their femininity and want to feel, and of course look, like royalty on their wedding day.
The 2015 collection was inspired by Edward Elgar’s musical work Salut d’Amour (Love’s Greeting), which the composer presented to his fiancée Caroline as an engagement present. More accurately the collection was inspired by the poem The Wind at Dawn which was written by Catherine to Edward in return. Romance is the unquestionable theme here, with the dreamy movement of a-line skirts a notable facet of the majority of wedding gowns and of course the use of that luxurious, delicate lace throughout. Elegant, regal, sexy, sophisticated are all words which come to mind when drooling over these enchanting creations…
A glamorous vintage theme is suggested with striking details such as billowing sheer shirt sleeves completed with intricate lace cuffs, appliqué capelet cover ups which vary from short to statement-making cathedral length, and more subtly through the use of sheer and slinky silk gloves in the styling.
The modern aspect of the collection comes about with simple silhouettes- impeccably cut to showcase the female form, rather than disguise it – and the use of chic, understated sparkling silver sashes to accentuate the waist. Modest necklines create a balance in column and sheath gowns, while strapless and v-necks are refined with sheer and scalloped details. These gowns demand you attention, and we think will create an iconic image that is all at once classic, contemporary and timeless.
