Save The Date: Ideas & The Do’s and Don’ts

Planning & Advice

Just engaged and eager to share your wedding date with the world? A Save the Date card is a great idea, especially for those invited guests who have further to travel and if your wedding is happening over a significant date or holiday.

What to include on your save the dates:

Your names: Traditionally it’s usually the brides name first followed by the groom. For same-sex couples you could choose to arrange them alphabetically.

Wedding date: Only send your save the dates once you have finalised the date.

Wedding location: Include the area or country you don’t have to give a specific venue.

Invitation to follow: This will let your guests know they should expect a formal invitation in the future.

What not to include on your save the dates:

Accommodation info: At this stage you don’t need to overload your guests with info, sending all the info out with your formal invitation is perfectly fine for a local wedding. If you’ve chosen a destination wedding now is a good idea to provide info.

Start times: As you’ll still be in the early planning stages you may not even have a confirmed starting time so keep this to yourself until your invites.

RSVP request: Save the dates are not a request for attendance numbers, the RSVP should be saved for the invites.
