Six Wedding Planning Tips You Need To Know

Articles

Planning your wedding can sometimes feel like a real chore, with so many decisions to make, ideas to think about and people to consider. We know, it can be tough! Today we’ve got six wise wedding tips to help you out with some of those trickier situations – and some great ideas for keeping your budget in check!

When it comes to  personalising your ceremony…

Your ceremony is the absolute heart of your wedding day, it’s emotional and life changing and with some added thought can be very personal. You could include personal vows written by each of you, meaningful readings said by a family member or a symbolic ritual such as handfasting.

When it comes to  floral arrangements…

You want to get the most out of your flower budget and with the help of a great florist, you will. When you are deciding what you need and want from your floral displays consider where they can be reused from ceremony to reception. Unity arrangements make a great display for your top table, deconstructed pillars can welcome your guests at both the ceremony and reception, pew ends can become table centre displays – there are lots of ways to make your florals work hard without sacrificing on style.

When it comes to entertaining your guests…

Many couples worry about keeping their guests entertained at all times during the wedding day, especially during those quieter moments such as the drinks reception. If entertainment is a big factor to you, be sure to include enough in your budget to have the acts you want. From caricaturists to magicians, solo singers or a trad band, you’ll find all the entertainment options you could ever need, here.

When it comes to little guests – children!

If you’ve decided to invite little guests to your day it’s a good idea to plan well ahead. Consider the ages of the kids coming and provide age appropriate entertainment or activities. A chill out corner with teepee, blankets and cushions is always a winner and doesn’t have to cost a lot to achieve. If you have your own children attending and feel you will need help, you’ll find great options here.

When it comes to your wedding cake…

Find the perfect cake maker and you’ll be half way to having the perfect wedding cake. Chat to your supplier about number of guests and the realistic percentage of how many will have cake, especially if you choose to cut it after your meal. Don’t forget the cheese option if a sweet cake isn’t your vibe. Be sure to choose something that feels like you rather than going with tradition just for the sake of it.

When it comes to the bar, free or not?

We hear this question all the time, do you have a free bar, do you leave a specific amount behind the bar for guests, or do you leave it open to all guests? A fully open bar is a very generous option but certainly isn’t necessary and will all be dependant on your budget. We suggest allocating your bar budget to specific points in the day such as the drinks reception, toasting wine or bubbles, and maybe even a round of shots at midnight!
