Steal their Wedding Style: Aoife & Derek’s Rockabilly Romance

Décor & Flowers

Aoife and Derek’s beautiful 1950s real wedding is brimming with inspiration that’s just ideal for stealing and sharing with you all! The couple couldn’t decide on a theme as such but a “modern-but-vintage” style evolved from the various wedding pieces they chose. Derek wore a navy suit and with that, some pale blue bridesmaid dresses and an ivory wedding gown, a colour scheme developed. Their letterpress invites from Pretty as a Picture resembled flow blue china, and it played a major part in the overall look.

First up to steal is Aoife’s gorgeous tea-length, ivory Beverly Lister gown with detachable shoulder-piece from Petticoat Lane in Co. Down. We found a similar gown (main image, right), called ‘Cecile’ by Fancy Bridal NY which is available from Bella Bleu, Co. Cork. Up next to inspire were Aoife’s cute Rachel Simpson t-bar shoes from Frilly Frocks. We chose an alternative pair from BHLDN (main image, left) that also come in an ivory hue.

Aoife’s Bridal Style

Aoife created a vintage bridal look with a birdcage veil, bright red lips, retro hair, a lace embroidered detachable shoulder-piece and a big luscious sash to emphasise her tea-length, ball-gown skirt.

Decor

Aoife and Derek’s beautiful letterpress flow blue china inspired invites from Pretty as a Picture helped play a big part part in their day. Although their colour scheme was an accidental one, their light blue, ivory and navy were ideal tones for a relaxed and fun wedding.

Flowers

Aoife chose pink and cream flowers for her bridesmaids’ bouquets and button holes and a cream bridal bouquet for herself. We fell in love with this baby blue and cream creation from The Flower Den that mimics their overall colour scheme. Baby’s breath is a great choice for decor and can be added to any floral arrangements by the right wedding florist.
