Find your flavour…
Choose flavours you want, not what you think your guests will love. Your wedding is about you as a couple so make your flavour decisions based on what you love, or maybe a flavour combination that means something to you. From classics such as vanilla with strawberries and cream to exotic coconut and lime, and every flavour in between, have fun tasting and choosing what you can’t live without!
Think about the surroundings your cake will sit in. A small single tier cake will look even tinier within a huge, palatial space. For a tall marquee space you should consider a taller cake so that it creates drama. Remember you can ask your cake designer to make some of your tiers dummy tiers if you don’t need so much actual cake.
Approach your cake search with a budget in mind – just as we would advise for all of your wedding items. Your cake will vary in price depending on a number of factors including size, flavours, decor and finishes. There is a lot of time and skill spent on creating magical wedding cakes which will be reflected in the price. It’s best to have an honest conversation with your cake designer who will be able to advise what options will work best for your budget.

Think about how you will dress your cake – do you want flowers, will you be using fabric draping on the table, have you chosen a topper – there are lots of decisions to make to create a memorable cake arrangement. Don’t choose your cake design before you have decided on the overall look of your day. Your wedding brings lots of different elements together so choosing your cake look and design too early may cause problems. You will find making decisions on your cake so much easier if you have items such as the flowers already chosen.
