Meet Fiona and Joe, a lovely couple who tied the knot in a wedding full of personal touches. Their colour scheme was burgundy, with their love of movies mixed into the theme. We love that they tied the knot on Fiona’s parents’ 33rd wedding anniversary!
Couple: Fiona & Joe Burgoyne
Engagement length: Year and a half
Wedding date: 2022-07-29
Wedding location: Oriel House Hotel
Photographer: Sean Sharpe Photography
“On Christmas Day, Joe was in his home place and I was in mine with my parents. I went to collect Joe and give his family their presents. On the way home, Joe wanted to call to our house to get a box of beer and I went into the house and upstairs to the loo. On the way down Joe was playing the “Glory of Love” song that we ended picking for our First Dance. He got down on one knee and told me he loved me since we were 18, now 28.”
Their wedding colours were beautiful and warm shades of burgundy. To add a personal touch they incorporated their love for movies into the wedding theme.
Fiona wore a beautiful wedding dress from O’Briens Bridal Couture in Wicklow. To complement her look, she selected jewellery from Rosie and Dott and had her hair done by Debbie McCarthy and makeup by Maria Coleman.
Joe wore a dapper suit from Kevin Bownes in Bandon.
The wedding party complemented the burgundy theme with their dresses and suits, which looked perfect.
Fiona and Joe tied the knot on her parents’ 33rd wedding anniversary. They describe their wedding ceremony as “relaxed and magical”, especially after waiting for this day for 10 years.
They celebrated their love with a fabulous reception at Oriel House Hotel. The wedding coordinator, Elaine Gantly, couldn’t have done more for them! Fiona and Joe loved the hotel itself and described the food and service as top class.
Their wedding was beautifully captured by Sean Sharpe Photography.
“Sean was chilled out, made us feel amazing and super professional. He got loads of amazing shots worked super hard on the day. We could always give him a ring for a chat and he made us feel so relaxed on the day even if I had to roll on my side to stand up after getting a lying down shot on the grass with a drone, but it was so worth it!
We were up for any pics and he made it so easy for us on the day. Award winning photographer and the pictures say it all.”
To entertain their guests, Fiona and Joe arranged a fun photobooth, indoor fireworks, a world champion Irish dancer, and a magician. For favours, they gave guests movie cards to tie in with their movie theme, personalised Tic Tacs, bottle openers and a fun quiz for everyone.
Fiona’s favourite memory from the Big Day is going from taking photos at Glenview Gardens to their venue as “Mr and Mrs Burgoyne”, while sipping champagne in a vintage Beaufort car.
Here’s their fabulous advice for couples:
“Take time out together even if it’s 5 minutes or 40 minutes and talk about how amazing it is to be there. Look around, everyone is there for you to wish you well. You don’t marry the person you can live with, you marry the person you can’t live without.”
