There is something about French wedding dress designers that makes us swoon every time. Perhaps it’s the use of fine laces, or that bohemia meets ‘upper west side’ look that they pull off so well, or maybe it’s ’cause most of their look books take place in the dreamiest Parisian boudoirs with a soft summer breeze blowing through soft tulle drapes. Whatever it is, the fact is that young French designers such as Laure de Sagazan, Elise Hameau and Sophie Safarti are behind some of the most desirable collections for effortlessly chic brides this year, and we’re head over heels for each one of them.
*We’re also very much in love with Rime Arodaky, but we’ve gushed about her latest collection here already.
Laure de Sagazan
Laure de Sagazan’s divine 2016 collection of Hollywood-inspired gowns may be one of our favourite collections of the year so far. The entire collection exudes sophisticated, old world glamour with just a little bit of playful zest in the form of luxurious lace cap sleeves and pretty laser cut cover ups. View the entire collection here, and stockists here.
Sophie Sarfati
Sophie Sarfati’s creations are some of the dreamiest dresses we’ve come across this year and we just cannot get enough of them. In fact, while rifling through her inspiration look book of delicate lace embellishments and the most beautifully detailed backs there was no stopping The Isley Brother’s ‘Summer Breeze’ from floating to mind. This is premier Parisian style at its finest. View stockists here.
Elise Hameau
If you’re a bride who’s all about the back, you’ve probably come across Paris based Elise Hameau on your daily Pinterest pilgrimage and been hypnotised by her heavenly gowns. Elise is inspired by the fashion of the 20s and 70s and combines these classic silhouettes with the most beautiful French lace and stunning art deco style detailing to create gowns that exude personality and style. We’re very much in love with her five piece Paris-San Francisco collection and can’t wait to see what this young, talented lady has in store for the future! See Elise Hameau stockists here.
Fabienne Alagama
‘Swoon’ is all we can say about Fabienne Alagama’s vintage inspired, free spirited gowns. Fabienne’s luxurious ‘Timeless’ collection is a celebration of the feminine form, and uses intricate floral appliqué, lace and tulle to create gowns that look like an absolute dream to wear. This is one designer we think we’ll be hearing a lot more from over the coming seasons.
Delphine Manivet
We been huge fans of the glorious Delphine Manivet for years now and have watched her wonderful wedding dress designs transform from ethereal and angelic like to powerful, playful styles for a chic modern bride. Manivet has always been avant-garde, experimenting with unconventional silhouettes and quirky separates with admittedly dubious results (see her rather rebellious 2012 offering and that mini tutu dress here) but this year she has gone back to boho and come out with one of her most chic and wearable collections to date.
