Beautiful bridal belts and sashes have become super popular additions to wedding dresses in recent years. It’s not hard to see why the trend has become so big in bridal – gorgeous crystal sashes and beaded belts are the perfect tool for adding some bling to simple boho style gowns, or for cinching in, or drawing attention to the waist and creating a fabulous feminine shape. And the best thing is there are plenty of options for brides looking to belt up on the Big Day with beautiful sashes coming in all different colours, fabrics, stones and metals. Pretty ribbon sashes came to the fore when Vera Wang featured several contrasting belts on her show-stopping wedding dress collection in Fall 2011 and are often an inexpensive way to add some contrast to your gown and create a beautiful shape. More excitingly however, lately brides have chosen to add rather unusual belts to create a more contemporary feel to their gown. This has meant more unusual options such as full metal mirror belts and stylish chain belts are now creeping into the mainstream and making us think twice about what constitutes modern bridal accessories (See Julie Vino‘s 2015 collection for ideas on how to style a metal mirror belt!). Below are some of our fave styles from at home and abroad, you can get your hands on any of these online, however if you consider yourself a creative type and are a couple of months out from the Big Day, why not go the DIY route and create something really special? (PS we want to see pics if it turns out well!)
