Wedding date:
15th September 2012

We met… On an online dating website. Our first date was 11/13/2009 at a Starbucks coffee shop! We agreed to meet for a coffee date because a dinner was committing too much time…what if we didn’t like each other in person?! So I met him an hour and a half before I started work that morning so I had an excuse to leave just in case things didn’t go as well as I’d hoped… but they went better. So well in fact that I wished we could’ve had an afternoon tea and a hot chocolate night in that Starbucks. I wanted to hear and know and see more of him…it was hard to leave and go to work. I didn’t know him yet to miss him, but I did?!

Wedding date:
 8th September 2012

We met when… Ed was playing guitar with a band in Whelan’s on Wexford Street.  My good friend Lou was going to see the band and asked me along.  Living only down the road off Camden Street I had no excuses! I arrived late and missed the band but had plenty of time to get to know Ed!  The night ended with Ed losing his phone and me writing my mobile number up his arm in permanent marker… he had no choice but to ring me!  Which he did the next day… the rest is history!

Wedding date
: 14th December 2011

We met… at a Pub in St Kilda, Melbourne on a Friday night – Andrew’s last night out in Melbourne before travelling back to Ireland. Andrew seemed like a relaxed guy, good dancer and good vibes with a great Irish accent. Then I realised he was also very good looking and really fun! He says I was ‘gorgeous, elegant, full of life, extremely fun… instant soul mate material.’ By the end of the weekend we knew that ‘this was it!’.

Wedding date:
 1st June 2012

We met… To begin with, in primary school! We had come in and out of each other’s lives since then and found ourselves working together in 2004 when I got back from Australia. After a few cinema dates, as ‘friends’, I earned his respect by giving him a royal beating in Scrabble one night. And that was that.

Wedding date:
7th of July 2012

We met… Nine years ago during a wedding show. Barbara was a model and when I met her she was wearing a wonderful white wedding gown. Nothing happened at that time, we were both engaged but we liked each other. Nine years after, we happened to meet each other and discovered that we were both living in the same neighborhood… and that we were both single, so we went out for a pizza and slowly fell in love…

Wedding date:
 28th September 2012

We met… at a horse show in Punchestown in 2007. We had both come to the show to support a friend competing there. I thought that Richard was married to the woman he came to the show with. However, I later discovered that they were cousins over a few drinks. So first impressions changed from thinking he was flirting inappropriately to being very cute!

Wedding Date: 19th July 2012

We met… Myself and Derek met at a friend’s wedding. I’d been to school with the bride Fiona and had met her and her future husband Bryan by chance in Sydney. We ended up living beside each other and travelling together. I was going through ‘friends’ weddings’ stage of life, getting an awful slagging from my family, especially from my brother who would say ‘Can you no find someone to bring to these weddings Aoife?’ Anyway, Fiona and Bryan’s wedding came around in July 2008. Derek sat in beside me and another older couple at the church. He thought the older couple were my Mam and Dad so he was being really nice to them, doing a bit of groundwork. I didn’t know them at all! When we got to the hotel, it was the especially awkward part of the wedding for someone on their own and I didn’t know loads of people either. Derek’s sister who was bridesmaid and who I gone to school with said to him ‘I need to find Aoife Kirwan, she’s on her own’. Derek said ‘I don’t care about Aoife Kirwan, I need to find the girl in the blue dress!’ It turns out I was the girl in the blue dress and Derek and Suzanne were both looking for me. We were at the same table, chatted and danced loads. The oldest cliché in the book but; and the rest is history… When Derek phoned first after that, he thought I was giving him the brush off when I said I couldn’t meet up because I was babysitting. I actually was babysitting. Our first date was to Beauty and the Beast in the Olympia and Eddie Rockets!

Wedding Date: 18th June 2011

We met… I was living in Minneapolis, Minnesota but was in Houston, Texas for an advanced nursing programme. I met Chris the night of my graduation, my last day in Houston, in a night club. We connected immediately! For the next eight months, Chris flew to Minneapolis every couple of weeks to see me! I then decided to make an official move to Houston, and well, the rest, as they say, is history…
