5 Fabulous Colour Schemes for a 2017 Wedding

Décor & Flowers

Last year was all about tropical wedding themes, watercolour effects and, of course, Serenity and Rose Quartz and while wedding colours for 2017 are following down the same route, the overall trend is towards a more muted, natural and minimalistic style. Greenery is the colour of 2017 – or so says Pantone and although we’re not mad on the shade, we’re right behind them on the concept –  so we’re going to be seeing lots of leafy details like gorgeous garlands and understated, foliage-style centrepieces around. The industrial look popped up last year, and we think it’ll catch on with Irish brides who are opting for a pared-back, contemporary look, particularly for a city venue or a more unusual DIY wedding job. Purple will always be big for Irish weddings, and this year is no different, we’re thinking lilacs and mixed berries and a full depth of shades to make it really romantic and soft yet striking – perfect for a summer wedding. Lastly, you may have had copper overload last year, but we’re still holding it up as our number one metallic. It’s cool, modern, unusual and we can’t wait to see how it pops up in Irish weddings for 2017.

Greenery Wedding Theme

One of our favourite colour schemes for last year (and it seems from its shares on Pinterest, yours too) Greenery is the colour of 2017. Pantone declared the olive green shade as their number one, and the concept of earthy, natural, bringing-the-outdoors-in is something we can really get on board with for 2017. Loving the look? Industrial Chic

‘Industrial chic’ – a misnomer or pure madness? Whatever you think of it, this minimal, muted, sharp palette was the talk of the town last year, with wedding bloggers tripping over themselves for Edison lightbulbs and all things monochrome and geometric. We have to say we love this look, and although there are very few weddings it’ll fit in Ireland, internationally it is one of the wedding themes of 2017. Find out how to pull it off here.

Navy & Gold

Subtle, classic and just the right amount of glam, for us, navy and gold is the black and white of 2017 (yep, we just said that). This is a great palette for couples who want something for a formal affair, that’s a bit easier to style, as it’s simple enough to stick to and only needs a few pops of gold to make a statement. Find out how we’d style it here.
