30 Delicious Dessert Table Ideas

Cakes

Dessert tables have been a huge deal in the US for a couple of years now and while Irish brides have been championing the sweetie bar as an alternative, we’re definitely noticing a shift towards the former for 2015. Dessert tables are a great idea because they cover so many bases – they are all at once a focal point for the reception, a bit of ‘entertainment’ for guests, favours that nobody will leave on the table, and most importantly delicious! More and more brides are opting to DIY their dessert table as a way of getting family and friends involved and also for couples to showcase a bit of talent and personality that certainly can’t be ignored! Venues all around the Emerald Isle are catching on to the idea! Check out some of our pointers below for creating a delicious dessert table to suit your wedding style.

Draw Attention with Decor

Make a splash with your dessert table by adding some striking décor like banners, balloons or bunting. You want to draw your guests’ eyes to this special feature and make sure they know to get in line as soon as the dessert bell rings! Our favourite are these fab Letter Lights from Dublin based Marquee Letter Lights.

Dessert ‘Stations’ or Bars

Sometimes you don’t have to go full throttle on your dessert table by pulling together lots of different desserts at once -concentrating on one delicious dish might prove the best option. More and more we’re seeing couples opting for alternatives like Sundae Bars, Pancake bars, every-flavour-under-the-sun cupcake tables and even introducing a little bit of flair with an American ‘Smores’ stations. Whatever takes your fancy can fly as long as it looks and tastes good, so let your imagination run wild! (We’re thinking Coke and Fanta Floats as an option? No?)

Alternative Dessert Table Display Ideas

Of course your dessert table doesn’t have to be an actual ‘table’ per se, you can fashion almost anything into a base to display your sweet treats. Think vintage kitchen dressers, some random drawer cases, a bunch of barrels or even a massive cable spool as options to showcase some colourful candies and you have yourself a beautiful focal point for your reception!

Celebrating Summer Dessert Table Ideas

Summer allows for colourful, light and sumptuous sweets – think individual fruit cups, an icepop bar or even an all-you-can-eat Sundae Station! The option to move outside for dessert is a great way to get people mingling before the band sets up and allows for some photos you’ll treasure forever. Of course if setting up an ice cream station seems a little too much work, you could always hire an Ice Cream Van?! Just tell us our invite’s in the post…
