Wedding Wednesdays: Rally The Troops – Wedding Planning Tasks Your Friends And Family Can Help With [Episode 132]

Podcast

If you are engaged over the Christmas holidays, you’ll probably be spending lots of time with friends and family! And they will have lots of questions about your Big Day. Many of them will be asking how they can help… well, with so many decisions to be made, it might feel overwhelming deciding what to delegate. So take a peek at our list!

Shopping trips

You’ll have lots of things to buy – dresses, decor bits, accessories – and what better way to include your family than by inviting them on a trip! Ask for their input, but make sure they understand the brief and they know what you’re looking for.

DIY sessions

If you’re planning on DIYing anything – even something as small as putting ribbons on wedding favours – get your family to help. The more hands, the quicker the job will be. And if you include wine tasting in the activity, you’ve got yourself a fun night ahead.

Making bathroom baskets

Here’s a task that can be done with very little input from you! Make a list of a few items you’d like to be included in bathroom baskets and get someone else to make them. This is a lovely touch for guests and pretty much anyone can put these together.

Gather addresses

If you’re planning on mailing wedding invitations, get your friends and family to help you gather the addresses. Divvy up the contacts list and get everyone to add the addresses they have on file and to contact guests whose addresses you don’t have.

Chase RSVPs

Another way to divvy up the list based on who knows the guests! Ask family members to gently chase guests that they know.

Gather old photos

A really special touch on your Big Day is old photos – whether you’re making a slideshow or displaying photos in some other cute and creative way! Ask your family to sit down together and go through photo albums, choose the cutest ones of each of you.

Compile a playlist

Sure, your professional wedding band or DJ will have a list of songs that everybody will love, but they will always appreciate hearing which songs you and your guests love. Ask your friends and family to help you make a list!

Make a bridal emergency kit

You just never know if you’ll need painkillers, gum, safety pins or stain remover. Those, along with lots of other helpful items, will make up your emergency kit. But it doesn’t have to be made by you!

Doing the collecting

You’ll have plenty of items that need to be collected – suits, chairs, other decor items you’ve hired. But you don’t have to be the one collecting them. Get help from your friends and family!
