As with most wedding related suppliers doing your research and learning who is available in your area, budget and style is the number one way to get started. Of course you can view our recommended photographers across Ireland and beyond, here, as a great starting point.
We recommend you take the time to look at photographers with different photography styles to help discover what you are drawn to. Use their websites to delve into their previous weddings and hopefully from there you will know if you like or love their work. Always remember to look past the actual weddings the photographers share, it’s their style and coverage you want to discover, not whether or not you like their previous weddings as a whole.
2. Armed with a new found photography appreciation, draw up a shortlist of your favourites
Hopefully from your research you will know they style you appreciate and from there draw up a shortlist of two or three photographers to approach. The two dependable’s you need to know from the outset is, are they available on your date, and how much they cost.
When you are initially creating your shortlist bare in mind how far away your date is, most very popular photographers will be booked at least 12-18 months in advance, with many even further away than this.
When it comes to budget, there is a photographer to suit all budgets, how much you have decided to spend will come down to how important your wedding photos mean to you.
3. Made it through they shortlist but do you get each other?
Once you discover they are available on your date and you can afford their services the next vital element is that you get each other. You are going to spend a lot of time with your photographer on the day so ensuring you are comfortable with them and essentially work well together is a must for the best photography results. You don’t have to feel you’ve found a best friend for life (amazing if you do!), but you must feel relaxed around them.
Made it through the test… time to get down to the nitty gritty!
4. The nitty gritty contract details
