I play the Game of Thrones theme at a lot of drinks receptions because it’s always such a hit — everyone knows it, and they never expect to hear it on the harp. My set for receptions is a mix of instrumentals and sung pieces, with plenty of songs people love but wouldn’t usually associate with the harp. It creates a gorgeous atmosphere without ever being intrusive, and it gives guests those lovely moments of surprise when they recognise something familiar in a completely new way.

It’s the first part of the day when everyone can relax and chat. If I’m playing at the ceremony first, I make sure the transition to the reception is smooth. A sudden shower had forced me to switch off my sound equipment so what you’re hearing is my acoustic sound.. I’ll play a two hour set, take requests, & design a setlist to suit young & old. It gets everyone into a great mood before heading in to the meal!
