How to create your photo timeline
1. Work out who must be photographed with you
Many couples opt for family photos immediately after the ceremony, ensure your photographer has a list of who you want to include and remember the more photos needed, the longer it will take.
2. Choose your locations
Many photographers will offer to visit your venue if they haven’t worked at it before. Chat to them about potential backdrops that will work for the various types of photos such as couple portraits, bridal party and family groups.
3. Refine the order of the day
Typically your day will run like this; getting ready, ceremony, reception. If you plan however to include a welcome drinks reception or first look make sure your photographer knows this well in advance.
4. Listen to and be directed by your photographer
There will be moments during the day (especially during the family photos) that there’s a lot of gathering of people and moving them around. Let your photographer guide you and the family members/guests, they are the professionals and are well trained in keeping the day running smoothly.
Shots to consider: Detail flat lays such as rings, bouquet etc, getting ready, individual bridal and grooms party portraits, first look, ceremony details, ceremony, confetti toss, wedding party, family photos, couple portraits, reception details such as table settings and cake, speeches, cake cutting, first dance, fireworks/sparkler send off - quite the list!
