I have never executed my contracts online before, any top tips?

Good question! As you and your customers will be executing the contracts online, they are considered distance contracts. Some tips to remember for distance contracts:

Before purchase You must provide your customers with clear information before they purchase, including:
  • Supplier’s trading name, address and phone number
  • Main characteristics of the goods or service
  • Total price including any taxes
  • Extra charges such as delivery or postal charges
  • Arrangements for payment and delivery
  • If there is a right to cancel and the conditions, time limit and procedures for cancelling
  • If customer will have to pay the cost of returning goods that are not faulty
  • The estimated cost of return if the goods cannot be returned by standard post
  • The complaints handling policy
  • How long the contract is and how it can be ended, if it is extended automatically or is of unlimited duration
  • The minimum duration of your obligations under the contract

You might consider emailing this information to customers in advance of the contract or including this information in a box at the beginning of the contract, for review by the customer.

At checkout/execution

You must give your customer the following information:

  • The total cost
  • If delivery restrictions apply
  • Which methods of payment are accepted
  • A warning that by placing an order, customer explicitly acknowledge an obligation to pay

You might consider including this information in a box at the beginning of the contract.

After purchase Customer must receive written confirmation of the transaction, on paper based or in a durable format such as email.

We will also send the customer a copy of the contract to their WOL account.

Cooling off period

For distance contracts

Under Irish law, customers have 14 calendar days to change their mind without having to give a reason (there are some exceptions).

Where can I find the terms and conditions for WOL Contracts?

We have updated our General Website Terms and Conditions to include this service and you can find them here.
