Anglo & Budget in December

Maybe a silly question but does anyone know what would happen if the Government decided not to pump more of our money into Anglo??? On the news today they are saying that they need circa 30billion is it?? to save Anglo. Ah why bother saving it? What difference would it make if it wasnt saved???? And how bad will the budget be in December? Making us all scared. If they tax the middle earners anymore there wil be more and more people in serious trouble

Am watching prime time now and they have explained why we need to save it. There are bond holders involved and cant default on the payments to them. Its a total balls isnt it?? What the state could have done with 30 billion! So sad!

Absolute joke and it makes me beyond mad!

Im a bit confused about the bail out and NAMA, but what frustrates me is that no one has been charged with this, and how the financial regulator let this get out of control. Someone somewhere was not doing their job and what consequences will they have to face? If it was you or I we would be jailed. I think the Irish people need to see that justice will be done.

Just turned over to watch it now. We have lost our credibility, we had an enviable financial worldwide status and now we are a laughing stock. Its not good enough for our government not to know where we are going, they should in the position to KNOW. Im feeling very annoyed about this situation, we need leaders who know how to lead and leaders who the public believe in.

Ya agree that we do need a good leader but is Eamon Gilmore good enough??? I dont think so and is Enda good enough??? I def dont think so. There is no one out there to replace the gov thats in at the moment and whoever gets in will just do the exact same as what the gov is doing now and blame the previous gov etc etc. It is a pity but I really would be at a loss if an election was called!

Don't think I have ever been as vocal about a topic on wol. I don't think there should be a general election, our politicians should direct all their energies into running the country, but we are lacking politicians with believable leadership qualities. Wouldn't we all have confidence in our country if the politicians reassured us, but they don't seem to have the answers and if they don't then who does? We just cant drift along and hope that this mess will go away......whew don't think ill sleep tonight with my head buzzing with all this!

Why do you think Eamon Gilmore would not be good enough? People need to STOP voting for FF just because they have always done that. I cannot believe that after everything FF have done to this country that 24percent would STILL vote them back in. I have NEVER voted for those shower of wasters and never will. I would usually vote socialist party but will change my vote to labour now because I really believe they are the change Ireland needs. I would love to see the socialist party in charge, Joe Higgins is an amazing politician who only wants to do good and help the most vulnerable people in society but people will never vote them in because they only want to vote for the party that will put more money in their pocket now. No one looks at the bigger picture. I would be happy to pay high taxes if it meant a better education and health service in ireland but I think Irish people can't see into the future like that.

I am sorry if you took offense at what I said re Eamon and Enda. I suppose I do think that there shouldnt be an election at all. I think that the likes of Brian Lenihan is doing all that he can for the country now and yes we are in a mess but what will actually change if there is an election???? Just more money spent on canvassing around the country and when the new party get in (I do not believe that FF will get back into gov) they will do exactly the same as FF are doing now and go on to blame the past government for everything and anything that does go wrong and what will go wrong. I just think it is a big waste of time if we do this. But I do believe that there will be an election and we can then I suppose listen to FG / Labour going on about the past mistakes etc etc. Nothing changes in this country.
