Hi Could anyone tell me what would be the norm to spend on a christening gift these days. First baby in the family so havent been at a christening in years. I am godmother too. Im thinking of just going for prize bonds or else a voucher for a photographer.

I think, personally, that it is totally up to the individual about the amount spent on a Christening gift. I've always thought it's lovely to get something to commemorate the occasion, so a photograph would be lovely - and maybe a frame to put it in? Swarovski and Newbridge have some lovely keepsakes. And I've always thought the parents deserve a bottle of fizzy too!! :-8

Prizebonds is a very good idea & if you buy on bdays etc it will build up a nice little nest egg for when the child turns 18 if they choose to cash them in:)
