Do i have gestational Diabetes?

Do I have gestational diabetes, I rang the nurse in my gp this morning and she give me my readings but was unsure if I had GD or not as she said the levels for pregnant women are different? Any know if I have it or not? First reading was 5.5, second reading was 8.2 and third reading was 9.2...

Did she not say that those levels were either ok or not ok? When I rang for my results they gave me the numbers but also said 'They're all fine, you don't have GD.' If you had it, surely they would have had to make appointments for you to see a diabetes specialist and get on a special diet and all? Ring them back and ask them, are the levels ok or not and if not, what do you do next.

Sounds like you might, if your body was processing the sugar properly I think your levels should remain roughly the same, I could be wrong though. Definitely give them a ring

The cut off point for GD on fasting reading which is your first is 5.0 sorry to be the bearer of bad news but the other two sound high to me aswell. Ring your hospital and tell them your results and they'll get you sorted then, each hospital has different cut off points and procedures.

Well she sounds about as helpful as a box of matches in a swimming pool!!!! Ok just my opinion and I've had gestational twice and am now type 2 aswell but the first reading is your fasting reading and that should have been less than 5.3, I can't remember what the other readings should be but yours are not very high but they control them very tight when pregnant, I think mine were 10 and 14 on one pregnancy but you definitely need to ring them back and find out as if you have it you need to be treated for it asap. As streaks said cut off for fasting bloods is 5. Anything over on test is considered gd. The nurse should have checked all that before giving you random numbers.

5.3 was/is the cut off with my hospital? You would think they would be all the same but seems not?

Which hospital were you with busydee? How long ago was it? On phone so if you have a ticker I can't see it sorry. Apparently they have lowered cut off to 5.0 now, they're really tightening up on GD. As you say though each hospital is different.

Did you get any more clarity from hospital lellikelli?
