Ah, thanks Slini, I posted the question very early on in my pregnancy when I was clueless and I had no-one to ask because we hadn't told family and friends yet. Im over 12 weeks so I've figured out the answer now anyway!

This post is great - even though it's almost 10 years old it's still very apt!

I got my BFP at the weekend, and calculated that I'm 5 weeks gone.

Went to the doctor on Monday, and came away feeling overwhelmed!
- First of all he did the test twice and it showed up negative. He did say they're not as sensitive as the home kits, so it made me wonder why do they bother doing them? Bit annoying really. :duh:

- He let me know all the things I shouldn't be eating and to be honest, I now am struggling to know what I can eat. I knew about unpasteurised cheese, meat etc, but I didn't realise you could get listeria from salads and hummous (which I eat every day).

- I'm also anxious about the fact that I drank a HUGE amount of alcohol before I knew (week 3). I was fed up putting my life on hold while trying, and it wasn't working, so we went on an all out mad one, and I was so sick for days afterwards. I just really hope i haven't done any damage :o(

Anyway just wondering who else is at this stage and if you're as nervous as I am about doing/eating/drinking something wrong?

I'm also 5 weeks am findi g it hard to get excited as I'm anxious about everything working out. Will book an early scan privately for 7 weeks but otherwise going public.
