Nurses or Midwives?

I'm confused....but are all the nurses in maternity hospitals called midwives? Like the nurses on the wards after you have your baby - are they midwives? I'm always afraid I'll insult them if I call them nurses.

im a nurse and i know the some of the older midwifes find it insulting to be refered to as a nurse, most if not all would be midwifes i know where i work you need to be a midwife to be on post natal and antal natal wards, some general trained nurses would work in the gynae side though.
