Hi all We're meeting with the hotel next weekend to discuss as a possible venue. What kinds of questions do i need to ask? Also, what kind of deposit is usually required and when will it need to be paid? Thanks so much

its usually around a 1000 euro deposit, they can reserve the date for 2 weeks to make sure you can get date for church and your happy with etc, they usually give you a booklet on what menus they do etc.. ask them is there only 1 wedding that day you want to get married ask about rooms will you get a discount for bridal party , hooneymoon sweet usually free, really bargin with them, and for your deposit if they ask for a thousand you should say i give you 500 at the end of the day if the hotel goes into liquidation u wont get your deposit back thats what my friend did and said it was no probs at the end of the day you have to cover your back, hope all goes well hope you find your dream venue , let us know how you get on

There's a big list on this website somewhere if you have a nosy around - it's WOL's as opposed to in the discussion forum! Also just to add our deposit was €2k but I've heard of ones higher than that also - all depends on the hotel!! Enjoy meeting them!!

Decorations -Who is responsible for decorating the venue - when is the room available? -Who will decorate the tables? -Can we have tea-lights/candles on the tables? -What chair covers can be provided? -Would someone be able to collect the decorations after the event, and we will arrange to have them taken them home the following day? -Do you have any restrictions on decorations? -What is the china/glassware like? -Is confetti allowed outside of the building? -What flowers/decorations etc are provided? -Do you provide flowers for the top table? -Will there be linen table cloths and napkins? -Will someone be able to collect any decorations that we've brought so that we can collect them at some point after the reception?
