Presume Thai Fish Sauce is ok - it's just anchovy extract and is used in cooking? It's apparently fermented, don't know if that makes any difference. Thanks girls, just don't know about these ingredients as they're not mentioned in the nutrition in pregnancy book I have. See separate thread on shrimp paste which some internet sources think might be questionable. Yahoo answers has a thread on whether Thai food is ok in pregnancy and everyone says it is - most Thai food I think contains fish sauce so presumably that's the answer. Still don't know about the shrimp paste though. :thnk ETA: Further googling hasn't answered the question but there seem to be a lot of recipes on pregnancy sites that have fish sauce. Would really appreciate an answer though if anyone has one.
